Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar local-storage technologies Sous-Chef uses, what each one does, and how to manage them. We aim to keep this list short and to use only what we need to deliver the service.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and return on later visits. We also use the related browser APIs localStorage and sessionStoragein similar ways. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" on this page.
Categories we use
1. Strictly-necessary
These keep the application working: signing you in, remembering the organisation you are currently working in, and protecting against abuse. They cannot be disabled while you are using the service.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Authenticated session for the signed-in user | Up to 7 days, refreshed on use |
| better-auth.csrf_token | CSRF protection for state-changing requests | Session |
| cf_clearance / Turnstile | Bot protection on registration, login and password reset | Up to 30 days |
| theme | Remembers your light/dark preference (localStorage) | Until you clear it |
2. Analytics
We do not currently run third-party analytics on the authenticated application or the marketing site. If we add analytics in future we will list them here, treat them as optional, and ask for consent before they load.
3. Marketing
We do not run advertising or third-party marketing pixels (for example, Meta Pixel, Google Ads tags) on the application or the marketing site.
How to manage cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Doing so for the strictly-necessary cookies above will prevent you from signing in or staying signed in. Most browsers also allow you to manage cookies on a per-site basis under their privacy or security settings.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when we add or remove cookies. The version number and effective date at the top of this page change with each update.
